DATA CAPTURE

VABOSS REPORTING CAPABILITY

Overview

The location approximately every 50-100 sq2 of commercial space allows each Vaboss controller to measure several environmental attributes. If these attributes are useful to business operation, they can be statistically summarized stored for batch download, or transmitted, on a periodic basis to a site aggregation point..

CONTROLLER ENVIRONMENTAL REPORTING VALUE

Staff and Customer Movement Behaviour

Depending on the type of business, logistics, retail, manufacturing, storage, the value of traffic pattern data to business process improvement and/or revenue growth will vary. It can highlight poor utilization of space, seasonality factors, poor signage, or possible variations inter-site comparisons of performance. It can be seen as a contributing and informing data set to related information coming from standard business transaction data sets.

Energy monitoring

Being able to monitor environmental conditions with a 50-100 sq. m. resolution has the potential to greatly expand the data set of environmental improvement initiatives; particularly the trade-offs between natural light access and its impact on internal temperature profiles

ATTRIBUTES

Presence Detection

Each time a Controller’s presence detection sensor receives a signal, this event is captured in the reporting subsystem

Light Level

The Controllers’ light sensor is continually monitoring light levels, within its area of illumination.

It is quite possible to provide statistics on both the absolute level of illumination, and the net natural level of lighting after subtraction of its light contribution.

Lighting Power

By recording statistics of the Controller power setting, a detailed picture of lighting energy consumption is possible, and comparisons can be made across different parts of a site’s construction and natural light access.

Temperature

The onboard temperature sensor of the Controller can also record the ambient temperature on a repetitive basis. By comparing external vs near ceiling internal temperatures and proximity to sky lighting, detailed environmental models can be constructed.

Off Time (no activity)

Each Controller has the ability to record the amount of time that it is in the “off” or minimum state; either as a result of no activity or as a result of high ambient levels. This data is useful to evaluate the potential lifetime increase of the luminaire but also, in the absence of presence detection, whether the area is being productively managed

SAMPLING PROCESS

Measurements

The default settings for sampling are that the Controller will take measurements every minute and will, every half hour, it will average the results and generate a single numerical value. This behaviour applies to:

  • Light Level (10’s of Lux)
  • Power level (average watt level that is imputed from the Controller’s drive level)
  • Temperature (degrees centigrade above zero)
  • Off Time (percentage of the time period that the Controller was in the lowest dim level)

Events

There are 2 two type of detection statistics possible:

  • The number of raw activation events -where a person could be continuously activation a sensor just by moving within its range
  • The number of unique activation events that are defined as new events once a single activation block out timer has expired. As an example, a block out time of 30 seconds would no register any subsequent detections until a 30 second time, initiated from the first detection, had expired

EXPORT OF REPORT DATA

Store and transmit periodically

This capability allows the Controller to store and transmit on a scheduled program to a Cloud data base. Corporate access to the Cloud data base will provide for programmed data download
